Advice and answers from the Docketwise Team

Client Portal

Collaborate with clients via your own client portal

Docketwise's client portal enables you to collaborate securely with your clients via their own portal in Docketwise.

Invite Your Client to their Portal

To give your client access to their portal, follow these steps:

  1. From your dashboard, click on the Contacts tab
  2. Find your client and click on them
  3. From your client page, click on the Portal tab
  4. You will see a switch that says "Allow Portal Access".  Turn it on
Your client will receive an email that asks them to set their password and then directs them to their portal.  From thereon, your client can login to their portal anytime by navigating to client.docketwise.com.

Share Tasks, Forms and More

You can share the following resources in Docketwise with your clients via their portal:

  • Tasks:  Navigate to the task that you want to share and click "Share to Portal".  Then select the portal to which you want to share the task.  Your client will be able to see and check off the task from their portal
  • Smart Forms: Navigate to the Forms tab, select the smart forms that you want to share and the click "More Actions".  Select "Share to Portal".
  • Invoices: Navigate to the invoice you want to share, click the three-dots next to the invoice and click "Share to Portal".  Your client will be able to download the invoice from their portal and, if you have a LawPay integration, they will be able to pay the invoice from their portal via credit card
  • Files: Navigate to the Files tab, select the files that you want to share, click "More Actions" and then "Share to Portal".  Your clients can download the files from their portal and also upload files to the portal, which will be available in your files tab
  • USCIS Receipts: Navigate to the Matter to which you've saved the receipt and click on the Case Tracking tab.   Click the portal icon next to the receipt and select the portal to which you want to share the receipt.  You client will be able to see the receipt, description and status from their portal.  They'll also be able to click on the status to navigate to the USCIS status page

Add the Client Portal to Your Website

We've made it easy to add a button that opens up the Client Portal login page right from your firm's website, so clients can find it easily.  Just copy and paste the code snippet below where ever you would like to include the link on your firm's website:

  1. From your dashboard, click on the Contacts tab
  2. Find your client and click on them
  3. From your client page, click on the Portal tab
  4. You will see a switch that says "Allow Portal Access".  Turn it off
